CAROLINA CARE PLAN NAMES MEEHAN PRESIDENT

Columbia, SC -- Carson Meehan has been appointed president of Carolina Care Plan.

Meehan joins Carolina Care Plan from InStil Health Insurance Company, a subsidiary of Blue Cross & Blue Shield of South Carolina where he served as vice president of Sales and Marketing.

Previously, Meehan worked at Coventry Healthcare of Louisiana, where he also served as vice president of Sales.

"Carson has all of the qualifications to make Carolina Care Plan a success," said Kent Clapp, CEO of Medical Mutual of Ohio, Carolina Care Plan’s parent company. "He has extensive experience in product development and customer service and will act in the best interest of our members."

Medical Mutual acquired Carolina Care Plan in early May. The transaction received final shareholder and regulatory approval on May 18.

Meehan has served in a sales capacity with a number of other health insurance companies, including Humana, Physicians Health Plan of South Carolina, and American Heritage Life.

He resides in Blythewood.
