MEDICAL MUTUAL PURCHASE OF CAROLINA CARE PLAN FINALIZED
Columbia, SC -- The recent purchase of Carolina Care Plan by Medical Mutual of Ohio has received final shareholder and regulatory approval.
An agreement in principle that Medical Mutual was buying Carolina Care Plan was announced on May 8. The transaction has now been approved by the South Carolina Department of Insurance and Carolina Care Plan’s shareholders.
"We’re eager to start doing business," said Medical Mutual CEO Kent Clapp. "This is a great opportunity, not only for Medical Mutual, but also Carolina Care and South Carolinians."
Clapp said Carolina Care Plan will continue to be based in Columbia and operate under the same name. It will also continue to offer its current line of health insurance products with the possibility of adding more in the future.
